Hey there, mama, you are absolutely enough

Freestyle

Neighbors. Either the biggest blessing or a nagging nuisance.

Thankfully 🙌🏼 ours are the former (a blessing), and have become a valuable source of sanity for me. We truly hit the jackpot in the neighbor department.

One neighbor in particular sends me uplifting articles about motherhood, raising families, and the importance of self care. She’s a mom of two herself, and while our days may look vastly different, we share a lot of the same desires, concerns and insecurities when it comes to our role as “Mom.”

Earlier this week, I was having a particularly challenging day. My husband’s job has less-than-desirable hours and I’ve been second guessing my choices as I think ahead to what our “new normal” will look like, as my maternity leave comes to an end. I swear my neighbor has ESP because she sent me an article about “absolutely being enough” for our kids. That we need to stop worrying so much about what we’re doing wrong and recognize all the things we’re doing right.

We love them. We feed them (mostly healthy foods.) We clothe them and make sure they have all their basic needs met. We may not be perfect but we’re perfectly preparing them for an imperfect world. Whatever we do, we are enough, and our children are lucky to have moms who care as deeply as we do.

So to all the moms out there who ever feel like they suck or that they’re failing their children in some way, ask yourself these two questions:

  • Do you love your kids?
  • Are you doing the best you can today?

If you answered ‘yes’ to either of those questions, then find comfort in knowing (a) you are not alone and (b) you are absolutely killing this mother thing!

Furthermore, if you want to move to the neighborhood with the absolute BEST neighbors on the planet, let me know. I’ll put you on touch with our local REALTOR(R) who has a few listings. We’d love to grow our tribe!
